Sharia Adherence: Baptist University drops ‘Crusaders’ nickname

You would think that a Christian university would understand the history of Christianity and Islam and would hold fast to it's principles, but alas, political correctness claims another victim.  Although the university received zero complaints about the name, and even a Hamas, er uh, CAIR spokesman Ibrahim Hooper, said 'CAIR finds team names or mascots that incorporate race or ethnicity more problematic,' the university is changing the name to provide 'expanded opportunities' for its students.  Excuse me while I gag.

Another craven capitulation and surrender to sharia adherence. And Christian institutions self-enforcing the sharia under the guise of global harmony are particularly galling. Lest we forget, it was the Crusaders who saved Europe from the bloody and gruesome jihad that Muslims were waging across Europe.

Executive vice president Matt Davis said "Our main concern has been with stereotypical and racist team mascots or school nicknames." Really? Shouldn't one of the main concerns of a Christian college be educating and activating for their Christian brothers and sisters who are being oppressed, subjugated and slaughtered in Muslim lands under the sharia? And someone ought to tell dhimmi Davis that Islam is not a race.

Of course, Ibrahim Hooper of Hamas-CAIR is rubbing his hooves together in glee. It's perfectly fine for millions of Muslims to be waging bloody jihad across the world, but for an American college to use the name of those who successfully beat back the jihad onslaught of the Middle Ages — that's the problem.

The word Crusades – defined by Merriam-Webster as 'any of the military expeditions undertaken by Christian powers in the 11th, 12th and 13th centuries to win the Holy Land from the Muslims' – to some speaks of heroics, but for others – namely Muslims – it speaks of bloody murder.

'Times change and we understand that context changes,' Davis told Fox News. 'Our world has changed since 9/11 and we've become a more global society with the Internet.'
